When we first drove down the long driveway to Lyndhurst, we were escorted by two beautiful white-tailed deer. We hope your first trip here is just as magical! We're thrilled with this location and know it will be a fantastic spot to celebrate with all of you. The majority of the evening's activities are scheduled to be outside, so hopefully the weather will hold up well. Our ceremony will be out on the Castle's front lawn, with cocktail hour inside and around the back veranda. The reception site is a short walk away in the Carriage House courtyard.
Designed in 1838 by architect Alexander Jackson Davis for former New York City mayor William Paulding and eventually enlarged by subsequent owner and railroad magnate Jay Gould, Lyndhurst is considered by many to be the finest Gothic Revival residence still standing in America. Bequeathed to the National Trust in 1961, the mansion features its original furnishings and decorative arts collection and acres of landscaped grounds.
